Like all disposable diapers today, Manukind diapers are not yet fully biodegradable or compostable. Some performance layers still require non-biodegradable materials. However, we maximize plant-based and biodegradable content while ensuring babies enjoy the softest possible diapers. Our long-term vision is to move closer to a fully biodegradable diaper as technology advances.

This is a common—and often misunderstood—question.

Historically, pulp was bleached with Elemental Chlorine, which created toxic dioxins. To eliminate this risk, mills transitioned to ECF (Elemental Chlorine Free) bleaching, which uses Chlorine Dioxide—a naturally occurring compound that does not generate dioxins. Chlorine dioxide is even widely used in drinking water treatment for its safety.

At the same time, TCF (Totally Chlorine Free) bleaching was developed in Sweden, using oxygen, ozone, and hydrogen peroxide. TCF also eliminates dioxins but requires more energy and yields less pulp per tree, meaning more wood must be harvested.

Yes. Both ECF and TCF pulp are completely safe for use in diapers. The debate is about environmental impact, not baby health.

Health & Safety: Both eliminate dioxins. Independent dermatological testing (Dermatest, Germany) confirms Manukind diapers are hypoallergenic and excellent for sensitive skin. Most human dioxin exposure actually comes from food, not diapers.
